Humorous Movies

Do you know any amusing audio clips from the Apollo missions?

I've been making videos debunking hoax claims on my Astrobrant2 Youtube channel, but for a change of pace, I thought it would be fun to put together a montage of funny scenes. I was looking primarily for funny audio but video or even still photography would be nice, too. I already have the singing and la de da skipping videos. But I like more subtle stuff, too, like when Charlie Duke hollered, "Look at the size of that ROCK!" Well, I'm easy to entertain. So if you can give me any references, I'd appreciate it. I also have where Capcom tells one of the astronauts who is trying to brush dust off of a rock, "Blow on it." And the one between Cernan and Schmitt, (I think) where they are erecting the flag and one asks about the vibration of the pole. The other said he has never put up a flag on the moon before, and the first one exclaimed, "Whaaat??!!" Stuff like that. Hey, they don't even have to be humorous. They can just be cool, like Dave Scott saying, "Looks like Mr. Galileo was correct." Or even just down-to-earth human, like moments of frustration, such as John Young being despondent over breaking the heat flow experiment. A couple other I've come across recently. I think it was Duke or Young who said, "I'll leave it nice for the next guy." And somebody said something about laying around all night talking. You may know some sentimental clips, too. I might use them. I appreciate the answers people have given. There are some I never heard about. Of course, that's why I posted this. I expect I will post it again sometime and see if I can get any new answers.

  2. I can mention a few Apollo Lunar Surface Journal pages that have audio and video of humorous moments. Pete Conrad was several inches shorter than Neil Armstrong and when he first stepped off the ladder he said, "Whoopee! Man, that may have been a small one for Neil but that's a long one for me!" http://history.nasa.gov/alsj/a12/a12.eva1prelim.html Speaking of Charlie Duke, he once went to reach under a rock and said if you do that in West Texas, you get a rattlesnake. This page at 168:35:30. http://history.nasa.gov/alsj/a16/a16.sta13.html And on this page at 120:14:34, Charlie said he had a map of Hadley Rille (the Apollo 15 site) because they were often given the wrong maps in training. http://history.nasa.gov/alsj/a16/a16.lrvload.html For sentimental clips, Gene Cernan's last words on the surface of the Moon are good. "Bob, this is Gene, and I'm on the surface; and, as I take man's last step from the surface, back home for some time to come - but we believe not too long into the future - I'd like to just (say) what I believe history will record. That America's challenge of today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow. And, as we leave the Moon at Taurus- Littrow, we leave as we came and, God willing, as we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind. "Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17." http://history.nasa.gov/alsj/a17/a17.clsout3.html
  3. "I was strolling on the Moon one day..." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo3-fuYKWB4
  4. From Apollo 11 in lunar orbit prior to descent: Michael Collins (in Columbia): "That's a fine looking flying machine you have there Eagle despite the fact you're upside-down" Armstrong (in Eagle): "Somebody's upside-down!"
  5. I just checked your youtube channel out, it's pretty good... I'll watch more when I get a chance.
