Does anyone know a site to download video clips from? I'm talking about any kind of random video clips like from shows or movies or something funny someone found online. I have found several clips I wanted from videos on youtube but they can't be saved so can someone please suggest another site?
Download Video clips.....? What is the best site to download videos from? I want mainly funny vids to put on my phone. I have found a few sites dedicated to 3gp videos but they haven't got a big selection of vids. I want a "Download" option for the videos, not like youtube, were you need the "videodownloader".
How do I create a video montage? I would like to create a short video montage to use as a baby announcement. I've done this on a couple sites before with photos, but never with video clips. Specifically, I was hoping to find funny clips from Knocked Up and other movies on YouTube, or somehow save them to my computer from the DVDs themselves. Then put them together into a short montage with my own photos and maybe some music, then upload this so I can share it on MySpace. It would totally be for personal use, as this would be an announcement to friends and family. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Video sharing sites.? What sites are out there to share short video clips or to view those uploaded by others? I know of ones like Putfile.com, youtube.com. What others are there out there like that with funny, crazy, and sexy stuff? Thanks.
Searching for a certain America's Funniest Videos video.? I'm trying to find a video online that was shown on America's Funnest Home Videos (AFV) a few years ago: In the clip, there are a bunch of kids sitting on the floor in front of a little puppet show theater. When the puppets pop up (they kind of looked like those creepy Mr. Rogers puppets) all the kids start screaming. One little boy goes crazy and starts hitting himself in the head with something. It's so bizarre and hilarious. I've searched for it myself via Youtube and other sites, but haven't come across it. Does anyone know where I kind find it? Thanks!
Short movies/clips??? (funny, sad, horror, thriller, animation,)? What are some good short movies/clips that I can put on my ipod touch? I already have lots of music videos so now I'm looking for short movies but I don't know any of them. Please make a list of your favorite videos that can be found on youtube or similar sites. Any video title??? I have a converter, so I can put all kind of videos but I just don't know what to choose. I need some good short movies/clips but please put the Titles or links. I mean the specific title of the short movie not just the website.
programmes like mcafee site advisor etc? show sites as red or yellow if they are of "dubious" nature ie:adult x sites and some video clip sites similar to youtube warning of spyware adware etc. Well i regularly visit video clip sites other than "nice and proper"youtube and i have never had a problem with spyware malware yet .And i have and use most of the best free anti malware anti rootkit programmes that there is. Are these" prevention better than cure" programmes like site advisor a form of self imposed censorship by turning the over cautious user away from visiting Sites that are not seen as being appropriate.Funny how mainstream youtube heavily regulated with the usual 1001 rules of use put in place is always as clean as a whistle and almost reccomended you should visit, afterall lots of people all active in one place is so much easier to monitor and censor
Looking for AFV video.? I'm looking for a clip from America's Funniest Home Videos where a brother and a sister are in a room together. She's trying to sing "Jingle Bells", while her brother keeps trying to make funny faces and change it to a different song, causing her to start yelling and hitting him. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...don't give a blunt suggestion like "try YouTube". If its on youtube, then great, give me the link if it is on there (or any other site it might be on). But don't tell me to try a place you don't know its on. Thank you.
Where can I find a clip of the Spitting Image Queen Elizabeth puppet singing "One Will Survive"? If you are old enough to remember the 80s series Spitting Image, you might remember this clip. I've tried YouTube and I've Googled it without success. There's loads of other Spitting Image clips and songs, just not this one. It's mentioned on Wikipedia, but there's no link. It's really funny, and I've been searching for it for ages. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Has anyone any ideas where I might find it? What other video sites are there? Thanks to the answers so far. I have googled it - no luck there, and SpikedHumour does have some great humour but not this clip/episode :O(
YouTube Sensation How? Hi, I want this video of my son to be a youtube hit as I think it is funny. Are there any sites which you can promote video clips http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wMpwXFn8HmI&feature=channel_page If not if you think it is good can you send this link to all your friends cheers
can I have two separate youtube accounts with the same email address? Okay, so far I have had just one youtube account, which I've been using for mostly leisure-time stuff - saving videos of lolcats and movie clips so I can easily find them again to watch on my iphone etc., as well as uploading the occasional silly video of friends making funny faces etc. But now I've just started a short course on video art/video editing, and we are being asked to put videos online. But as they are 'serious' work (as well as being all my own work, unlike the others where the video uploaded may have been at least in part shot by a friend), and consequently I might be directing potential schools or whatever to this youtube username to view my work, I don't want my serious stuff to be lumped in with the silly entertainment-like stuff: one is work and the other is play, and I don't want to mix them. Especially with the scare stories you hear of people losing a position because of something they posted, I think it really pays to keep stuff separate as much as possible! It's not that I have anything truly objectionable on my existing account - the worst you could call this stuff is 'silly'. But 'silly' is not necessarily the image I want to project to a prospective school or employer! Kinda like how I wouldn't show up for an interview in my jeans with the frayed cuffs and my 'It's all fun and games until somebody loses a nut' tee :-) I have thought about hosting one of the two accounts on another video-sharing website, but it looks like the account that got moved would suffer from being in a website with far less traffic. Which REALLY sucks for my more professional stuff, obviously, but is also annoying for the fun stuff as it would also mean I have fewer videos to choose from to fave them, and obviously the whole 'saving to view on iphone' thing goes right out the window. Plus, I have a mac and you can upload videos straight into youtube from imovie, which is also handy and can't happen with other video hosts. I also thought about creating a whole new email address and opening the account with that, but that is a real pain in the neck. Either you have to get used to having the normally simple process of checking your emails take ages because of having to log into multiple sites, or you get everything into one email application (eg Mail), but then you keep forgetting to switch accounts and end up sending emails from the wrong account anyway. So I am thinking that opening two youtube accounts (ie, having two Youtube usernames, one for the fun stuff and one for my own videos) but under one email address would be the most practical solution. What I want to know is a) is this actually feasible (ie, can you do it or do you get an error message if you enter an email address that's already in use by your other account)? b) Is it somehow frowned upon, considered dodgy behavior etc.? Thanks!
Funny or die? Funnyordie.com was put up by comedian Will Ferrell and his friends. It's like the comedy version of Youtube. But the catch is, viewers will rate the video and those that suck or have low ratings will be pulled out from the site. Hence the site's name. Anyway, here's a very funny clip featuring Will and his "Landlord" from hell or heaven?! You decide. Enjoy! http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/74
Internet and copyright laws - Comcast? I recieve a notice the other day from Comcast saying I had downloaded a copyrighted TV show (I did) -- they said I cant not download copyright material and could cancel my account -- Plus the copyright owner could take action Funny thing is TV clips are on Youtube, google, Yahoo and just about every site out there . Problem I am having is that they suppy me with Usenet / Newsgroups with a monthly quota of 2 Gigs .. That is a lot of uncopyrighed material --which in my option is one heck of a lot of text files -- Also usenet is maybe 99.9 percent copyrighted material How can they offer what they dont want you to download ?? The copyright laws are so sloppy -- I know illegial MP3 and movies etc are illegal to download -- But why not close down Yahoo, Google, and 99 percent of the Internet sites that contain pictures, videos, music that are copyrighted. How can Comcast say "here are illegal files I "offer" you --but dont download them ? maybe I should clarify --Comcast gives me 2 gigs a month access thru Supernews in my "plan" for my monthy fee -- there fore they are giving me access into the newsgroups I understand the Wal-mart gun deal -- but if Comcast Cable TV had a station in their line up which was lets say "Child porn" --they would only be the "provider" ??? and not responable if you watched it ...? Also if an adult "provides" a minor with beer ..are they NOT responable If a drug store "provides" illegal drugs to a person are they NOT responable --they could say -- I gave them but didnt say to take them
Question about online show? We've all heard of youtube. But one video hosting site(metacafe) actually pays users with alot of traffic & high ratings through a program called "producer rewards". The top "producers" have videos about things like "how to make flash powder" and "how to tie an impossible knot". Theres even one guy who has all his videos about massaging people and hes made more than 32 grand (just think if chris crocker had got his start on metacafe instead of youtube!). Anyway, my question is... for an online show to be succesful and attract a lot of viewers what does it need to have (apart from massage clips appearently!.. weird)? So far I've got three ideas, which I would love for all the yahoo users to contribute to! 1. Just a vlog, talk about everything, be funny, maybe some antics here and there. 2. A show about something specific such as special effects, dating, sports, cars, entertainment, maybe a talk show. 3. Maybe a spin off on Jackass, crazy antics and the like. help??

How do you save certain videoclips on the internet? I've been to the bombay-tv site where you make your own funny subtitles-clips. Now I want to save it but it doesn't work with the regular clipnabber or keepvid sites. I have seen this vids uploaded on youtube so I know it can be done... Also I discovered another great site like that where you can make your own movies and I'd really like to download it. Anyway I've seen some recommend "replay video capture for this", but I think it's not a freeware and also it's a bit complicated to use. Hope there is some nice soul out there that could walk me through this process. Thank you.
Copyright question? I have a question about copyright infringement. Youtube and most other sites don't allow videos that breach copyright laws on their site like music videos, clips from movies and fan made music videos. My question is this: if that's copyright, how do people like Weird Al get away with parodying songs? He uses the exact same beat as the original song. How is that any different? This is probably so simple and so far over my head it's not funny. But I'd still like to know :)
Seeing girls slimed mite b funny, but some guys find it sexy. Weird, huh? Y the hell is that? I saw a URL called SlapstickStuff.com. It just featured cute girls getting pied in the face & slimed (sometimes splashed w/ water, 2.) I've seen the fotos & video clips. 2 tell the truth, I was actually less LOL then I was being aroused. Do guys get turned on C'ing girls get slimed or pied? & y do girls actually like being incredibly messy? Is it 4 their own pleasure as well as the spect8r? Could there b something disturbing watching slimings on Nickelodeon? (Incidentally, I should also mention I've seen other sites, a lot of 'em adult, & Youtube videos showing girls pied, slimed, or even muddied.}
Why did I get an email from "myfanbox.com" from this person I know? Today I got an email from myfanbox.com, the funny thing is that it's a spam, but I recognize the sender. It says something about checking out a video clip from youtube, but when I clicked (thinking it's a real one), it tells me to enter my yahoo account password, so I moved it to "spam" and blocked all future emails from this site. So, my question is, did this person (I recognize) send me spams or cause me to get spams or someone used this person's name? Thanks, and I already blocked in mail options. thanks p.s. I don't really talk to this person anymore, so it's kind weird getting this email and if someone else did, how did they use her name? and the reply address is fbNOREPLY897@myfanbox.com@myfanbox.com
if people acted in rl how they do on the internet what would the world be like? I was just curious as to what other people would think on this subject. if people acted in real lifel how they do on the internet what would the world be like Honestly alot of people on the internet in forums and on chat sites and on games and such are either hostile or perverts. It's funny to think of it because if you made a mistake about 10 people would be hurling abuse at you and calling u a noob, chuck noris would be a god and tv would be filled with annoying videos with stupid music clips from youtube.

help with a summary? Last Rites for Indian Dead by Suzan Shown Harjo What if museums, universities, and government agencies could put your dead relatives on display or keep them in boxes to be cut up and otherwise studied? What if you believed that the spirits of the dead could not rest until their human remains were placed in a sacred area? The ordinary American would say there ought to be a law—and there is, for ordinary Americans. The problem for American Indians is that there are too many laws of the kind that make us the archeological property of the United States and too few of the kind that protect us from such insults. Some of my own Cheyenne relatives’ skulls are in the Smithsonian Institution today, along with those of at least 4,500 other Indian people who were violated in the 1800s by the U.S. Army for an “Indian Crania Study.” It wasn’t enough that these unarmed Cheyenne people were mowed down by the cavalry at the infamous Sand Creek massacre; many were decapitated and their heads shipped to Washington as freight. (The Army Medical Museum’s collection is now in the Smithsonian.) Some had been exhumed° only hours after being buried. Imagine their grieving families’ reaction on finding their loved ones disinterred° and headless. Some targets of the Army’s study were killed in noncombat situations and beheaded immediately. The officer’s account of the decapitation of the Apache chief Mangas Coloradas in 1863 shows the pseudoscientific nature of the exercise. “I weighed the brain and measured the skull,” the good doctor wrote, “and found that while the skull was smaller, the brain was larger than that of Daniel Webster.” These journal accounts exist in excruciating detail, yet missing are any records of overall comparisons, conclusions, or final reports of the Army study. Since it is unlike the Army not to leave a paper trail, one must wonder about the motive for its collection. The total Indian body count in the Smithsonian collection is more than 19,000, and it is not the largest in the country. It is not inconceivable that the 1.5 million of us living today are outnumbered by our dead stored in museums, educational institutions, federal agencies, state historical societies, and private collections. The Indian people are further dehumanized by being exhibited alongside the mastodons and dinosaurs and other extinct creatures. Where we have buried our dead in peace, more often than not the sites have been desecrated. For more than two hundred years, relic-hunting has been a popular pursuit. Lately, the market in Indian artifacts has brought this abhorrent activity to a fever pitch in some areas. And when scavengers come upon Indian burial sites, everything found becomes fair game, including sacred burial offerings, teeth, and skeletal remains. One unusually well-publicized example of Indian grave desecration occurred two years ago in a western Kentucky field known as Slack Farm, the site of an Indian village five centuries ago. Ten men—one with a business card stating “Have Shovel, Will Travel”—paid the landowner $10,000 to lease digging rights between planting seasons. They dug extensively on the forty-acre farm, rummaging through an estimated 650 graves, collecting burial goods, tools, and ceremonial items. Skeletons were strewn about like litter. What motivates people to do something like this? Financial gain is the first answer. Indian relic-collecting has become a multimillion-dollar industry. The price tag on a bead necklace can easily top $1,000; rare pieces fetch tens of thousands. And it is not just collectors of the macabre° who pay for skeletal remains. Scientists say that these deceased Indians are needed for research that someday could benefit the health and welfare of living Indians. But just how many dead Indians must they examine? Nineteen thousand? There is doubt as to whether permanent curation of our dead really benefits Indians. Dr. Emery A. Johnson, former assistant Surgeon General, recently observed, “I am not aware of any current medical diagnostic or treatment procedure that has been derived from research on such skeletal remains. Nor am I aware of any during the thirty-four years that I have been involved in American Indian . . . health care.” Indian remains are still being collected for racial biological studies. While the intentions may be honorable, the ethics of using human remains this way without the full consent of relatives must be questioned. Some relief for Indian people has come on the state level. Almost half of the states, including California, have passed laws protecting Indian burial sites and restricting the sale of Indian bones, burial offerings, and other sacred items. Rep. Charles E. Bennett (D-Fla.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) have introduced bills that are a good start in invoking the federal government’s protection. However, no legislation has attacked the problem headon by imposing stiff penalties at the marketplace, or by changing laws that make dead Indians the nation’s property. Some universities—notably Stanford, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Seattle—have returned, or agreed to return, Indian human remains; it is fitting that institutions of higher education should lead the way.Congress is now deciding what to do with the government’s extensive collection of Indian human remains and associated funerary objects. The secretary of the Smithsonian, Robert McC. Adams, has been valiantly° attempting to apply modern ethics to yesterday’s excesses. This week, he announced that the Smithsonian would conduct an inventory and return all Indian skeletal remains that could be identified with specific tribes or living kin. But there remains a reluctance generally among collectors of Indian remains to take action of a scope that would have a quantitative impact and a healing quality. If they will not act on their own—and it is highly unlikely that they will—then Congress must act. The country must recognize that the bodies of dead American Indian people are not artifacts to be bought and sold as collector’s items. It is not appropriate to store tens of thousands of our ancestors for possible future research. They are our family. They deserve to be returned to their sacred burial grounds and given a chance to rest. The plunder of our people’s graves has gone on too long. Let us rebury our dead and remove this shameful past from America’s future. 0 comments: Post a Comment Newer Post Older Post Home Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom) __________________________________________ Recently Dugg Stories The Covers Project The Covers Project began as a simple idea to help listeners discover new music by showcasing covers of famous songs. "The 25 Things That Killed Hip Hop" list, What do you think of this list and how many do you agree with? I did not create this list but what do you think about this list?.....source below..... http://www.soulbounce.com/soul/2008/04/25_things_that_killed_urban_mu.php 25 Things That Killed (and are Still Killing) Urban Music In the midst of everyone's declarations that "Hip Hop is Dead" we somehow forgot the slow death that is spreading across all aspects of "urban" music, as the legacy of Soul and its close cousins has devolved into a writhing mass of commercialism, homogenization, thuggification and overall laziness. Now, in no particular order, we present to you the "25 Things That Killed (and are Still Killing) Urban Music" because you love lists and SoulBounce isn't afraid to say what you're thinking. Keep in mind that there will be some overlap, as certain items gave way to others that deserve their own spanking. 1. The End of the "Event" Album: There was a time when albums encompassed an era that included a look, a feel, and a style that informed an artist's videos and live performances for as long as they (or the label) could squeeze revenue from a project by releasing singles. The "event" album can chiefly be credited to Jacksons Michael and Janet, who have entire timelines built around the idea of a "Thriller Era" or a "Rhythm Nation Era". Nowadays, instead of treating albums as what they are (a collection of songs with one unifying theme) artists are more likely to seek out the most ubiquitous Hip Hop beatmakers of the moment and record over a hundred songs from which to "pick" singles. Also, when you have artists that are too scared to release music with a healthy 3-5 year gap in between, the lines to between albums begin to blur, and the eras become indistinguishable, rendering them null. 2. Big Name Hip Hop Producers: With respect due to the beatmakers that introduce a track with the name of their production imprint, ad-lib all over it, and insert themselves as guest rappers 50% of the time, they overshadow the actual vocalist of a song. We certainly don't begrudge any of them the right to employment, but when an artist has to do an inventory of who produced her project to qualifiy it instead of telling us what the album is about, we have to take exception. Reality check: If you're trying to goad me into a purchasing your album because you have a Pharrell beat on it and I'm a Pharrell fan, then that's the only song I'm buying. Your album has to have legs of its own. 3. Deaths of The Notorious B.I.G. & 2Pac: You can probably draw a direct line from the deaths of Biggie and 'Pac to the current state of Hip Hop. The two of them cultivated a style that even a decade later is re- and misappropriated to the nth. Perhaps if they were still alive, they'd have pushed the genre forward. Or maybe they'd be wack and irrelevant. Hey, at least they died while they were still good. 4. "Neo-Soul": We understand the emergence of the "neo-soul" genre as a response to the growing commercialization of modern R&B. But even the artists lumped into this category began to the see that the term was as much a marketing ploy as the very things they eschewed. The language used to describe these artists ranged from "organic" to "avant garde" and any press materials would claim that he/she looks up to Stevie, Marvin and Donnie. And don't stand too close to the stage lest you get burned by the candles and frankencense! Before long, the audience would be fooled and we would either grow to love or loathe this music, defending the art of its purveyors and loudly wondering why they couldn't move as many units as their mainstream counterparts. Simply put, "neo-soul" has become a term used by people to describe music they respect but would never buy. 5. Reality TV: Aside from the manufactured Pop idols that are struggling to stay signed within their prize contracts, we have to question the motives of Sean Combs, Robin Antin and Missy Elliott, who have all aped the reality television format to generate acts for their own stable of artists. To be sure, reality TV has replaced proper Artist Development as a means for these entrepreneurs to cash in, stroke their egos and embarrass people who, 9 times out of 10, deserve it. Speaking of which, what's O'so Krispie doing? 6. Lazy A&R Departments: Did you know that A&R people are also responsible for Artist Development? Probably not, since these days a newly-signed artist is more likely to be stripped of their identity and given one that falls in step with what's popular or, even worse, none at all. Take Cheri Dennis for example. While her album has a respectable amount of solid R&B tracks, we still don't know who Cheri Dennis is, what sets her apart from everyone else or even what she sounds like. But, she has earned the distinction of being signed to her label for nearly a decade with no album to speak of. Did the A&R department utilize that time by playing Spades? Probably. 7. Scarface and The Untouchables: Okay, rapper, we get it, Scarface and The Untouchables are the greatest movies ever made; your life in celluloid, even. But, if you look close enough, you'll come to learn that you are neither Pacino or De Niro and should stop emulating them by using audio clips from the films in your interludes and the script in your lyrics. Too many of you are still doing this after all these years. Also, tell members of your crew to stop calling themselves "Ness" and "Nitti". Just, please, cut it out. Thank you. 8. Thugs: Not only do we have "Studio Thugs" that use de Palma films to inform their image (see above) but there's the "Corporate Thug" (robs an artist of his publishing and signs him to a hellified contract he could never fulfill) and the questionable "R&B Thug", which happened somewhere between R. Kelly and Jodeci and continues to this day. Along the way, labels got the bright idea that the way to a woman's heart was by selling drugs and beating up people. Sexy! This trend has also given rise to something else we'll never understand: "R&B Beef", in which two singers talk trash about each other to the media. Unfortunately, this doesn't result in a "sing-off" but pretty much makes everyone involved look kind of retarded. 9. Crime: Between violating probation, not paying child support, being pulled over and caught with an ounce of weed or cocaine, assaulting nail technicians, shooting people, tossing concertgoers off the stage, committing perjury, tax evasion, and urinating on minors, we have to wonder if being a good artist means being a bad citizen. 10. Ringtones: "Real Music Ringtones" were created as a way to distinguish your ringing cellular from someone else's while also bringing you closer to your favorite artist. Unfortunately, the labels realized this was the only way to generate revenue and started making music for the sole purpose of selling ringtones. Now, we have stripped-down keyboard beats and grunts and "yaahhs" instead of lyrics. Is that my cellphone ringing or yours? We'll never know, because we both downloaded Soulja Boy. 11. Lack of Music Programs in Schools: Programs like Garage Band have not only made producers lazy, but undercut the importance of immersing young would-be musicians in music history as well as basic composition. Unless a popular musician was trained in the church, they probably lucked into a contract without knowing how to write, play an instrument, or worse, sing a note. 12. BET (and by extension its corporate owner) is on a mission to not only destroy urban music, but poison the perception of Black people in the process. If we were to use this network as a guide (and people unfortunately do), we would believe that "drug dealer > rapper > pimp" is a logical career path, alcoholic beverages can be used as bodysplash, women of exotic or indeterminate race are the standard of beauty, darker-skinned women are only valuable if they have a big ass and a tiny waist, a person's worth can only be determined by what they drive and what they wear, you ain't sh*t if you're over 30, and a week's worth of debauchery and decadence can be undone with a Sunday marathon of religious programming. It's funny because it's true. 13. The Radio: Used to be, you would turn on the radio and hear a variety of artists with a variety of sounds. But due to the "Clear Channeling" of Urban Radio, you'll hear a T-Pain song followed by 15 minutes of commercials, followed by a song featuring T-Pain, some shucking and jiving by unbearable radio personalities for five minutes, then something that resembles a T-Pain song, but isn't because just about everyone sounds like T-Pain now. And it's probably a commercial. 14. Spineless Club DJs: If you're going out to a club, you might as well sit in the house and blast the radio instead of paying the inflated cover charge. Once upon a time, DJs were tastemakers, but now so many of them are afraid they'll clear the floor by spinning something new that they just play album versions of songs people are tired of but are too drunk to notice. Then, they add insult to injury by showing off their "skills" with poorly-timed scratches, blends that don't line up and screaming over the music. And consider yourself lucky if you happen upon a DJ with ACTUAL! VINYL! RECORDS! 15. Mainstream Hip Hop Publications: Back in the 90's, holding one of these rags in your hands was like holding a monthly Bible to all things Hip Hop and R&B. Now, they've all been relegated to chasing blogs and reiterating things we already knew weeks ahead instead of properly utilizing the print medium to do something unique. Changes in personnel and ownership aside, they were already marching towards irrelevance. Even the covers suck now, but you probably won't get the damn thing delivered on time in order to find out. 16. Bloggers: Guilty as charged! Trifle few of us are qualified to be writing about music with any authority, especially since most of the people behind blogs haven't been alive long enough to have a healthy perspective on the subject. Although it can be argued that record companies rely on blogs for buzz, most of the music championed by popular websites is the same music that would've gotten attention anyway. Also, we have to point out that the commenting system has turned discussions about music into an unholy war of "haters" versus "stans", where everyone is an expert on what they hate or love, but have no concept of anything else including real life. Oh, and providing your readers with the URL to full album leaks doesn't "help" the artist. 17. Youtube & Myspace: On the Internet, everyone is a star (thank you, thank you). But while sites like Myspace and Youtube can provide mainstream and indie musicians with a means of cultivating and connecting with an audience, it becomes a chore to sort through the muck of people with a webcam and a login classifying themselves as "artists". And damn you all to Hell for having the crap you made in Grandma's basement on auto-play. 18. Singing Rappers, Acting Rappers & Rapping Athletes: We'll keep this short. Every now and then you'll happen upon someone that has been able to organically transition from one career to another. Will and Latifah come to mind. To everyone else (coughCurtiscough), stay in your lane. Again, we don't begrudge anyone the chance to make some extra ends; it just shouldn't be at the expense of the audience. 19. The End of Real Singing Groups: Once upon a time, you not only had singing groups that weren't put together by a reality show, but wherein each member contributed a distinct voice or purpose to the group. Sometimes they had members that barely sang a note, but who actually produced or wrote the song. Point is, throwing a bunch of strangers in a house with one phone and giving them makeovers doesn't create synergy. Also, name a recent singing group that wasn't created for a television show or for the purpose of launching someone's solo career. Exactly. 20. "Kanyitis" is a temporary, yet frequent, illness that afflicts singers and rappers alike, wherein an artist waits until the precise moment they are in front of a camera, microphone or reporter to say something shocking and stupid, which will then be quoted by bloggers and searched on Youtube ad nauseum. Then the artist has to explain what they "really" meant, but by that time everyone already thinks they're nuts and doesn't care about a retraction. 21. Death of Aaliyah: Not that Aaliyah took an entire genre of music with her to the grave, but it can be argued that her passing made way for a wave of young, pretty dancers with okay voices and no personality. Only difference between them and Aaliyah is, Aaliyah had personality along with talent, ideas and a willingness to experiment. Also, she wasn't so full of herself. 22. Money: Even worse than artists releasing garbage because they know it sells is the audience's obsession with how much an artist makes. Unfortunately, we've given lack of artistry a pass because someone's "making that paper", which totally undermines the hard work of true creative talents that are constantly writing, recording, and performing. When I buy an album I don't want to hear an entrepreneur, which brings us to-- 23. Products & Brands: Whether rappers and singers are inserting the names of designer alcoholic beverages into their lyrics or cable companies are inserting rappers and singers in their ad campaigns, things come to a point where we need to start realizing how owned these artists are. There's a thin line between businessperson and corporate slave. We'd also like to reiterate a fact that has been pointed out time and time again over the past 10 years: If you can't pronounce it, why should we care that you're wearing it, driving it, or drinking it? 24. People That Aren't in Any Way Associated with Music: Opportunities in the industry are built on connections and there's almost never been a time when someone didn't rise to stardom on someone else's coattails. But now, things have gotten way out of hand. Why be an actual artist when you can be someone that danced in videos, screwed a bunch of rappers and got a book deal? Or, you can be a butler or Executive In Charge of Umbrella-Carrying? Or, worse, be the "Fifth Mic" guy on stage and reliable instigator? Who needs a recording studio? 25. Teenagers: Young people have always had the power to determine trends in all genres of music, which is why corporations defer to them. However, today's teenagers seem to be slightly more insipid than they were in previous generations and definitely have a shorter attention span. Whether it's the teens themselves driving the garbage labels are releasing, or the labels that are leading teens down a path of ignorance, is totally up for debate. It's the chicken/egg question in its purest form.
